There are many blessings in my life.  Being able to walk on the ceiling is not one of them but the others are doing their best to compensate. Undoubtedly the greatest and most constant is my wife, Mary.  Basically my day consists of lying here and asking for things.  The staff at The Laurels will do a lot but Mary is the one who will go searching for the obscure item I need from home and then try to make it work for me, all while satisfying her own church and family commitments.  She has been adapting her life to mine for a long time. Read More →

From most of the generally offhand comments from doctor and Therapists, it seems likely that I will be in braces for months.  Luckily that does not seem to mean that I will be here for that long.  Appears that, if my improvement continues apace and we get a few mods done at home, then I could go home in a couple weeks. Keith and Vanya brought me the Pitcher Plant. I do have a new roomie.  Not as alert and chatty as the previous oneRead More →

Oxycontin is my friend. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxycodone Things went very well yesterday. I had about convinced myself I would be fine on just tylenol. Got my new braces in the late afternoon. They felt fine. …… …… . {The braces have a hinge that can be locked to provide a limited range of motion. I think 10 degrees is what is prescribed at the moment but therapy will increase that over time.} .. … until about 8 pm. Then, although everything else felt fine, I started getting shooting pains in my right big toe. Like a little demon with a hot needle was stabbing it. Every coupleRead More →
