When I was first in the rehab at The Laurels, I needed something more substantial than a hospital gown. My first thougth was a nightshirt, because it had to fit over the braces on my legs and the boot on my right foot. What Mary found were these giant stretchy shorts. Some kind of athletic gear, apparently. but they stretched over everything and yet provided the impression of being fairly normal shorts. And they were a godsend. They sufficed (wll, 3 pair of them) thru my entire stay and after coming home. She even found some long pants version of them that allowed me to go out in public, as to church.
But I am getting farther along in my recovery. I can take off my boots and the braces myself (though I still need help putting the braces on). So, today I decided it was time to try wearing some big boy pants once again.

So, now I’m waring boots and jeans and a Dickie shirt. The braces are on the outside of the jeans, which is actuallly more comfy than against the skin. It feels good.
The orange lines running along each leg are actually bungee cords attached to the braces and my belt. The braces tend to slide down my legs. The bungee cords attemtpt to hod them up. Now its a race between the braces and my pants as to which falls down first.
I call this progress.
WOW! Real clothes! How awesome is that and the “progress” you’re making with bungee cords. I don’t know … I think you looked long and hard to find something to do with the bungee cords you wanted to play with. I’m sure it gets super boring at times. Being “tied down” when you like being an active person brings almost a state of torment to sit or lie still doing “nothing.” You do look good in those clothes! All these little gifts of joy to be added to your Christmas thanksgiving. Hugs! Keep up the creative thinking and humorous outlook on life.
