Oxycontin is my friend. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxycodone
Things went very well yesterday. I had about convinced myself I would be fine on just tylenol. Got my new braces in the late afternoon. They felt fine.

{The braces have a hinge that can be locked to provide a limited range of motion. I think 10 degrees is what is prescribed at the moment but therapy will increase that over time.}

… until about 8 pm. Then, although everything else felt fine, I started getting shooting pains in my right big toe. Like a little demon with a hot needle was stabbing it. Every couple of minutes. I tried wiggling, not wiggling, rolling to a different angle, tensing, relaxing, etc. He was a persistent fellow. Finally called a nurse. After a bit got some oxycontin. Didn’t so much stop the pain as simply stopped me from caring about it. And I slept.
Interesting that pains wait until no one is around to pop up. Except that, in a place like this, there is always someone around.
Anyhow, hopes that a cause/cure for this issue will be determined today. Or that they don’t run out of oxycontin.
