Traveling

Made it to church this morning. The new part of my header pic shows me dressed up and ready to go. Immediately after having the picture taken,, I spilled coffee all down the front of my shirt. But, after a change, off we went. It’s quite a production number taking me anywhere, with Mary doing all the (literally) heavy lifting. I move myself (mostly) and the walker is not too bad but the wheelchair is really heavy. But we made it and she doesn’t seem to have hurt her back.

We did make one improvement to the process today. I ride sidewise in the back seat (because the knees don’t bend much, you know). Entry involves using the walker to get me backwards in the doorway, a controlled fall of my seat into the seat, and then dragging myself across the width of the seat. The dragging part was difficult and tended to pull my pants down. So we have added a piece of plastic on the seat which makes for a much slipperier surface.

We get to try it again on Tuesday for a doctor’s appointment.

  1. Your gut wrenching honesty on your whole situation is a real comfort to me which is probably a surprise thing to say, but oh how I know the difficulties involved when your body simply is not working the way it should be and to live through the realities of how miniscule things became mountains to climb and bridges to cross with many boards missing on the walk-through. Although I feel like I have somebody else on the planet I’ve been living on, I only wish for it to end this very moment and for you to be totally healed. This is not God’s will for either of us. 🙂 Hugs, Donna
